Five Element Acupuncture is an ancient form of acupuncture based on the five universal elements of nature: wood, fire, earth, metal, and water. It has been used in Traditional Chinese Medicine as a method of diagnosis and treatment for over two thousand years.
The Ancient Chinese observed that each of the five elements represented a distinctive quality of the Qi energy, or life force, that was vital to the continual health and flow of nature. They observed these essential energetic qualities in nature and in every living being.
The Five Elements represent the five phases of Qi as it moves through nature and our bodies. The elements work interdependently in an elegant cycle, with each one supporting and sustaining the next in the cycle.
The interdependency of this natural cycle is delicate and small disruptions can affect growth and development both in nature and our bodies.
The stresses and strains of daily life, lifestyle and environmental factors can cause disruptions to this natural cycle in our bodies. This can result in the Qi becoming disturbed, depleted, or blocked, which can cause the elements to become unbalanced.
This can affect our emotions, personality, and health - Often when we begin to experience symptoms such as pain, a particular illness or emotional upset, it is a sign that our elements are unbalanced.
Acupuncture works by helping the energies of the Five Elements function in harmony and balance. Maintaining this balance helps to strengthen your constitution so that you can flourish, physically and emotionally.

My interest in Five Element Acupuncture first began over 15 years ago when I first visited a practitioner to treat back ache.
I began receiving regular treatments which not only successfully treated my back ache, but also made me more resilient to the challenges of everyday life.
Over the years I continued treatment during various pivotal stages in my life including fertility, pregnancy and grief.
Having experienced its many benefits first hand I became increasingly curious about how Five Element Acupuncture enables the body to use its own natural healing capacity to get better.
I eventually chose a path that would lead me to qualify as a Five Element Practitioner and I am excited to share the positive effects acupuncture can bring to my clients physical and emotional well being.
I offer Classical Five Element Acupuncture Treatments.

What to expect: Whilst many patients turn to acupuncture to relieve physical and emotional symptoms, our aim will be to bring about long-lasting benefits and an end to the symptoms returning.
The initial Consultation usually lasts between 1.5 and 2 hours. With Five Element acupuncture, we aim to treat the whole person rather than addressing specific symptoms in isolation. I treat each patient as a unique individual, working together to develop a deep understanding at a mind, body and spirit level.
This first session is my opportunity to get to know you and I will ask for details about your health, your family and work, and any hobbies or stresses you may experience in life. We discuss a future treatment plan which usually involves weekly treatments to start with and then less frequent treatment as your health improves.
We usually end the session with a gentle acupuncture treatment that clears the way for future treatments.
Follow Up Treatments last 45 minutes to 1 hour and in these sessions feedback and ongoing discussions ensure the acupuncture remains focused on your individual requirements.
